MarketCopywriter's fees and fine print

Fees: "How much will my project cost at MarketCopywriter?"
You always get fair, reliable pricing from MarketCopywriter for your print or online content needs. I use a simple formula to calculate your copy's cost: I  multiply number of hours needed to create your copy times my hourly rate.

How do I figure out how much time it will take to complete your project? You tell me. I rely on you to fill me in on your project.

To provide an accurate estimate I may ask you to:

·        Detail me on your business, products and services. If we work together, I like to review relevant company collateral and background materials when available.

·        Let me meet your customers through demographic info, focus group research, website user analytics, conversations with your sales force—or chats with real, live customers.

·        Share your marketing goals: What actions do you want customers to take after reading your materials? Where does your marketing tool fit into your sales cycle? How do you envision copy supporting your larger marketing strategy? If you haven't thought a lot about your copy, you may want to read eight elements of effective marketing copy, my take on key components of persuasive writing.

·        Tell me what works for your business. If you're looking for a particular voice, tone or style, please fill me in and—ideally—share examples of marketing materials that you like.

There's more to your project than writing.
Sometimes writing/editing is the only service you need from me. More often your project will involve research, interviews and meetings—as well as writing, polishing and proofing.

For projects with a turnaround of 2-4 weeks, I multiply estimated hours by my regular rate. Rush jobs or projects that require evening or weekend work are priced slightly higher.

After adding up my hours, I give you a quote for my fee.

What's included in the fee quote?

·         Perfect, polished copy

·         Two sets of free revisions

What's not included in the fee quote?

·        Graphic layout, printing, HTML writing: Estimated costs are for copy only. At your request, however, I'll provide quotes from design and tech partners for your "one-stop shopping" convenience.

·        Rewrites that require directional changes from my Assignment Sheet—see below—or revisions returned more than two weeks past deadline are not included in the quote. These fees may be billed at an hourly rate.

Fine print: Step-by-step planning assures you get the copy you want.
You always get polished, surprise-free copy when you work with me. How can I promise you consistently dead-on, on deadline copy? It's all about planning your project. Once we decide to partner, here's how it works:

·        You get a written Assignment Sheet from me that details your project. The Assignment Sheet describes our mutual understanding of your project—your target audience and marketing goals, project's size, tone, key content, expert interviews, quotes to be included and deadline for final draft and revisions.

·        You revise the Assignment Sheet until you're 100% satisfied it describes your vision of your project. I gladly make changes before a project begins—so much easier than massive rewrites!

·        You sign off on the Assignment Sheet and fee.

·        New clients pay half of the fee upfront before I start writing and the remaining fee when the polished draft is received.

·        Your polished draft is delivered on deadline as described in the Assignment Sheet.

·        Two rounds of free revisions are included in my fee, providing you send them back to me within two weeks of receiving my first polished draft—and corrections don't veer from the original direction of the Assignment Sheet.

Great copy for every budget
As a small business owner, I understand budget limitations. Don't hesitate to fill me in on your financial parameters—or suggest a figure for your project. I am flexible and can tailor marketing tools to fit your resources.

I gladly:

·        Assess your copywriting needs and develop strategies for small businesses.

·        Prioritize your copy projects and deliver your most urgently needed materials first—then create additional integrated marketing communications tools as your budget permits.

·        Edit and rework your existing marketing materials.
